Let There Be Lights

The kids at Woodstock's "Lighting of the Square" on Friday night.

It was cold, but fun. We sang Christmas carols, ate roasted chestnuts (not as tasty as we were hoping for) and popcorn, and were there with hundreds of other folks from Woodstock and beyond. At 7pm Miss Woodstock and the mayor threw a huge, fake switch and the square was lit. Many trees and the outline of the buildings and shops around the square were lined with white lights.

We are putting up our tree tomorrow after worship and lunch. This is such a fun time of year for Molly, who is the queen of all sorts of goodies (cookies, cake, chocolates, etc). The kids are wired, of course, especially after watching about 3-4 inches of snow fall at grammas house the day before Thanksgiving. It was beautiful.

I've really noticed over the past couple of weeks how busy Christmas time will be for me year-to-year. I'm not complaining. It's a great opportunity to engage a culture who can't help but talk about Jesus (in some sense) during this time of year. We also have a church budget to pass through the church by mid-December, a Christmas Eve service to plan, and the other holiday events that are bound to happen on a weekly basis.

Check out our other pics from Friday night.
